Anushka Das is a distinguished alumna of NIFT (National Institute of Fashion Technology), New Delhi, where she graduated in Textile Design. With an illustrious career spanning 17 years in the textile and fashion industry, Anushka has held key positions including head designer with renowned names such as Neeru Kumar and Ritu Kumar. Her expertise has driven the creation of multiple design collections catering to both domestic and international clients.
In 2010, Anushka ventured into entrepreneurship with her label, Anushka-Annasuya, specializing in apparel and home products. Her designs have earned acclaim from prestigious brands like Fabindia, Jaypore, and Ajio, as well as from the Neemrana Store in Khan Market, New Delhi. Notably, during the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, Anushka collaborated with Fabindia for mask production under the brands Anzen and Fiori, providing crucial support to handloom weavers by ensuring continuity in their livelihoods during crisis times.
Anushka's commitment to the preservation and promotion of traditional crafts is evident through her collaborations with entities such as the Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Minority Affairs, and various NGOs. Her involvement with initiatives like Chikankari and Natural Dye Block Printing projects with Sadhna in Udaipur and Aagor Dagra Afad in Bongaigaon, Assam, underscores her role in design interventions, training programs, and quality control measures aimed at empowering artisans and enhancing innovation in garments and handloom fabrics.
As a Design Consultant for Lahe Looms, Anushka focuses on revitalizing traditional Assamese textiles through innovative design developments. Her advocacy for sustainability is reflected in her brand's philosophy of zero waste, where she repurposes handloom and handcrafted fabric offcuts into cloth bags for Ecofemme's Menstrual Hygiene Programme since 2021, furthering her commitment to social and environmental responsibility.
Anushka Das has successfully completed a number of projects in the field of design intervention and quality control with Ministry of Textiles, GoI, Ministry of Minority Affairs, GoI, All India Artisans and Craftworkers Welfare Association, Ecofemme and various Private Organizations.
